It's a hard rubber magnet on one side and has self-stick adhesive on the other. Peel off the paper, stick your item onto the foam adhesive back, then stick the magnet to a metal surface. Or, reverse the procedure and place the sticky side onto a wall, then put your metallic item onto the magnet. The adhesive will stick to smooth or rough surfaces. It's quick, easy and best of all it can hold a lot of weight. We've tested it successfully with up to 1/2 lbs. of weight. The magnet measures 1" square and is only 3/16" thick and because it is made of hard rubber it wil not chip or break like ceramic magnets. You get a package of 50 magnets in this offer.
